Daylight savings started this month. It brings the revelation of why the clocks in our house are not high up in the ceiling. You need to change the time accordingly so it's more efficient to put it where you can reach it easily.
30 over years of living in Asia has not prepared me for the really long days that I am seeing now. When I first arrived, the day looks like night and now 8pm looks like 5pm. I have barely begun to adjust to long nights and now I have to be content with long days. My poor stomach has the hardest time of all cause it keep thinking the dinner that I had was a big snack cause the sky looked too early for dinner. When the sky eventually darken to night which is about 9pm, it starts demanding to be fill with something. Until today it hasn't come out of its denial phase yet.
The backyard plants/trees were better adjusted than me (that's cause they've been living there all their lives, you dolt). The mandarin orange tree have started blooming again.
This year our young cherry tree have more cherries than last year thanks to visiting bees and flies. However cherry tree attracts ants and uncle had to put ant powder near it roots so this tree is off limits to Churro.
Our numerous plum trees have also start bearing fruits. Previously I thought I blogged about them but it turns out I just post the pictures in facebook. We had 3 different types of plums. They are Sweet, Sweeter and Sweetest according to my uncle. The biggest plum tree will have to be net soon cause we don't like to share our plums with the swooping magpies.
It's actually quite fascinating to roam our backyard and I have gotten into the habit of doing it every morning. It's like my very own Animal Planet documentary show and I enjoy watching how the plants flourish after winter and the fruits grow and ripen. It's like nature's way of telling me nothing ever stays the same and everyday brings something new.
Starting tomorrow I'll be counting down the days to go home. My very first home visit! Now that's something I really look forward!
